Caldor Fire

The threat of the Caldor fire has increased over the last two days, with the fire now approaching both the Kirkwood Resort and the Hideout Wedding Venue, which are under mandatory evacuation orders.

We are talking with the venue and with each of your hotels to understand the options. If you need specific information today, please let us know. We will send out a detailed email tomorrow and update this page with what we have learned and our plans for the wedding.

Stay tuned.

Covid Prevention

The wedding venue is entirely outdoors so that the ceremony, dining and talent show will be in the open air with plenty of space. Additionally, we ask that:

  • Everyone should wear a mask on the shuttle and when indoors.

  • Those that are not vaccinated should wear a mask in large close-group settings.

Covid Testing

We want this to be a safe and relaxing event! To ease concerns due to recent breakthrough cases, we are asking everyone to obtain a test a day or two before the date, no matter their vaccine status, including children. There are a number of home tests available (we’ve been using QuickVue and and BinaxNOW) and most pharmacies offer free same-day or next-day results. If you would like to get a test after you arrive, there are a number of options in the area, but all require an appointment in advance. Please be sure you will have your results before you join!

Talent Show!

So many of you signed up for the talent show!

The venue will provide two hand held microphones, each with a stand.

If you need any additional equipment, please let us know. We can arrange it!

Attire

Saturday: Outdoor casual. Wear comfortable shoes as there are a number of hiking options.

Sunday: Outdoor semi-formal. It will be cool in the morning and warm up during brunch. The bride will be wearing her Converse so wear yours if you have them!

Bring layers: It may be warm during the day, reaching 70 degrees in the afternoon, but it can be chilly in the morning and when the sun sets, down to 40 degrees at night!

Bring sunglasses and your swim suits: the lake is cool and the 20-person outdoor hot tub is toasty warm!

High Altitude Hydration: you will need to drink lots of water at high altitude. Bring a water bottle if you have one.

Wedding Shuttle

The shuttles from the Kirkwood Resort will leave from the KIRKWOOD LODGE Saturday and Sunday mornings from 9:30 am. You may also flag down a shuttle in front of SNOWCREST and THIMBLEWOOD as it leaves.

At the end of each day, shuttles will return to Kirkwood, dropping passengers off at their of their cabin.

We ask everyone wear a mask while on the shuttle.
